November Elementary Newsletter

Dear Southern Door Elementary Families,

Happy early November!  Based on the weather in recent days, it feels more like the middle of winter!  Brrrrr!!

I want to express my gratitude for your continued support for our school!  This was evidenced by the tremendous attendance at last week’s Family Fitness Night and the recent results of our cookie dough fundraiser held recently, which raised over $9,000 to support our playground project.  To date, we have raised a grand total of over $211,000 (nearly 77% of our goal) through grant writing and SD PIE (parents involved in education) fundraising events. Our hope is to install the new playground equipment on the elementary/middle school playground the summer of 2020.  If you participated in the cookie dough fundraiser, all orders will be available for pick-up on Friday, November 15th from 2:00-5:30pm in the Eagle gym hallway.

The Winter Eagle’s Nest will be returning in December!  Our elementary students will visit the store and use BEAK tickets that they have earned for following the Eagle Proud, Eagle Strong behavior expectations at school: Stay Safe, Offer Kindness, Act Responsibly, and Respect All. BEAK tickets will be used to “ purchase” up to two gifts for caring adults in their lives.

We are accepting donations of new/gently used, gifts for men and women. Items could include: lotions, sports items, knick-knacks, jewelry, gloves, scarves, coffee mugs, small tools, craft items, candles, gift bags, tissue paper, small boxes, gift tags, and any other small size gift items. Donations can be dropped off at the elementary/middle school office during school hours from now until December 10th.  Thank you ahead of time for your generous contributions! If you’d like to volunteer with set-up and operation of the Winter Eagle’s Nest, please send an email to sdparentsinvolvedineducation@gmail.com.

Together in education,
Cory Vandertie
