Elementary - Parent Newsletter - December

Dear Southern Door Elementary Families,

This time of year tends to bring extra excitement with newly fallen snow to play in and build forts with, go sledding, and perhaps even build a snowman with family or friends.  The hustle-bustle of the winter season can also bring about additional stress and extra busy schedules. As we finish up the last 9.5 school days for 2019, I encourage you to take a little time to express your gratitude to your children and their teachers for their hard work so far this school year.  Some days are more challenging than others, but time and again, our students and staff persevere together to make each new day a little better than yesterday. Our school is blessed with hardworking staff, and each of them play an important role in educating our children. Whether it is a school bus driver, teacher, secretary, custodian, cook, nurse, instructional associate, or coach, all work tirelessly to make a positive difference.  Please join me in expressing gratitude to our staff. A few grateful words of appreciation can have a very positive impact!

Our students are excited for the Winter Eagle’s Nest, which will be held for our students on Thursday and Friday, December 12-13.  Our elementary students will visit the store and use BEAK tickets that they have earned for following the Eagle Proud, Eagle Strong behavior expectations at school: Stay Safe, Offer Kindness, Act Responsibly, and Respect All. BEAK tickets will be used to “purchase” up to two gifts for caring adults in their lives.  Thank you to everyone who donated items, assisted with set up, and will assist with shopping and wrapping during the two-day event. We are grateful to all of you for being an important part of our team!

Together in education,
Cory Vandertie
