We received some concerns from school board members, school leaders, and parents regarding a September 30th press release from the Door County Public Health department, which generated misperceptions that schools would no longer be serviced by the department, and that schools were considered areas of spread, along with large gatherings and community events. Please see the attached letter from the Door County Public Health Department leadership regarding clarification on their support for county schools with COVID-19 cases, and the positive efforts being made by schools.
As school officials, we are still doing the contact tracing at schools under the Public Health Department's guidelines. The process is quite comprehensive, and includes interviews with the confirmed case, their social contacts, as well as assessments made of classrooms, cafeteria, playground, etc. To date, all confirmed cases reported to us have been exposed to the virus outside of the school setting.
The district now has a Weekly Health Report banner on the home-page of the website. You can click on that and it will take you directly to the Health Dashboard for the week. This past week, the district's numbers of confirmed cases and those quarantined looked much better. We also update the Frequently Asked Questions section of the Fly Like an Eagle Plan, so if you have a question, it may already be answered there.
