MESSAGE FOR YOUTH WRESTLING

Announcement from the Southern Door Wrestling Club regarding youth wrestling (grades 4K-4) for the 2020-2021 wrestling season:

As efforts continue to responsibly manage the health and safety of our youngest student-athletes and their parents, we are delaying a potential start of the youth wrestling season until early 2021.  This applies to grades 4K-4.  While we historically begin the season in December, these unprecedented times have had a profound impact on youth and club sports throughout the entire world.  Our passion for the sport remains deep, but our commitment to safety is, as always, our top priority!

The WIAA has issued guidelines for our high school to follow.  As that season starts up in late November, along with middle school shortly after, we will learn more about how wrestling practices, competitions and gatherings are handled, and what access to facilities might be granted.  That, combined with Covid-19 case trends will determine what possibilities exist for youth activities.  While we realize and understand that the likelihood of a youth season is currently low, we also realize that scenarios are ever-changing.  So we choose to leave the door open for some type of opportunity in 2021, and will communicate that as soon as we are able.  Please continue to make responsible choices when it comes to the health and safety of those around you.  We'll get through this!  #SouthernDoor #EagleStrong
